Goals of Gay Into Straight America

In seeking to create authentic connections and dissolve our differences which separate us, 
Gay Into Straight America has our primary goals.

  1. First, Gay Into Straight America will call on ALL the people of our country, to take the Stand UP and Speak OUT challenge and become Wind Changers in order to help build an America in who we can ALL BELIEVE AND SUPPORT!  This includes people "wrestling" with their understanding; this includes gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and questioning persons wrestling with their understanding; this includes all of the previously mentioned who have come to acceptance of themselves; this includes allies; this includes ALL of us.

  2. Second, Gay Into Straight America will encourage crossing the abyss to confront the polarization that is gripping our country by asking people of both sides to talk to other people besides the ones in their "choir," so that our commonalities, threaded between our differences, can be recognized and acknowledged.

  3. Third, Gay Into Straight America will open a dialogue with American that has been choked off by fear.   10% of us affect 100% of society, and we intend to show that these "connecting threads" are points of light, giving hope to illuminating the family secrets that have imprisoned us.

  4. Fourth, Gay Into Straight America will encourage people to elevate the level and depth of their conversations, represented by wearing one of our rainbow wristbands.  Once each of us spends time with others with whom we disagree, our understanding will become enhanced and empowered, and our journey will become more about the challenges facing our world, rather than who is right or wrong. 

  5. Fifth, Gay Into Straight America, in keeping with the mission of our non-profit, Stand UP Speak OUT, will ask people to consider that we are ALL connected, and that what affects one of us, affects all of us.
