How does stereotyping pertain to diversity? – Stereotyping is a fixed and distorted generalization made about all members of a particular group. Stereotyping is the first step toward discrimination. Our thoughts lead to our feelings and our feelings lead to our actions. Stereotyping is a way of thinking, prejudice is a way of feeling, and discriminating is a way of behaving. It all starts with a stereotype.
How can I promote discussions on embracing diversity inclusive of GLBT persons? – By actively participating in a Safe Zone Training Workshop, attending an Allies luncheon, joining Sodexho PRIDE, attending diversity summits/conferences about GLBT persons, or mentoring a GLBT person.
