Letter from 8th grader, Mavia Burke
Hi Roby,
I am a student finishing my eighth grade year at Fairhaven Middle School. To graduate from eighth grade at my school, we are required to complete a culminating exit project in which we research and present information on a subject of our choice.
For my project, I have researched same-sex marriage across the world, focusing on the United States. On the twentieth of June, I am presenting my research in a twenty-minute presentation that includes seven different "intelligences", which are different ways to show information.
One of them is verbal/linguistic, which means that I will present part of my information through spoken or written words. I was hoping that you might be interested in allowing me to interview you about your experiences with same-sex marriage for this portion of my project. It would be great if I could meet you for a short-videotaped interview, which I would edit, and present in class.
I am a neighbor with Ann Poulson, and when I told her about my project and my hopes of interviewing you, she mentioned that she knew you and offered to contact you for me. She told me that she had emailed you, and that you were willing to talk about this interview.
Thank you for considering this interview, and I look forward to talking to you and Dotti soon.
Thanks,
Mavia Burke
